asleep, awake, asleep, awake
Mr. Matthew couldn’t decide what he wanted to do at our session. Every time I was certain he was out for good, his little eyes would pop open
Enjoy the sneak peeks Mommy K and Daddy R!
And Baby Makes Three…
I love working with first-time parents. Their faces always show the emotional roller coaster that they’re going through from bringing a new baby home. On one hand they’re usually in a sleep-deprived fog, just living from one feeding to the next–but on the other hand, you can tell that they are so flooded with joy and love for this tiny, miraculous creature. I always enjoy sitting and talking with them, hearing their stories about sleepless nights, birthing experiences, the baby’s special quirks, etc. If the ‘S’ Family is reading this, enjoy your new bundle–he’s beautiful!
6 lbs of heaven
Who says all newborns look the same? This little guy is proof positive that every baby is truly unique—check out that hair! He had the most fluffy and spikey hair I’ve ever seen on a newborn. I think every hair on his head pointed in a different direction
I had such a wonderful time photographing him. Much of the time I was there, Baby R needed feedings, cuddles, diaper changes, more feeedings, etc., so I had plenty of time to chat with his new mommy and grandmother. Thank you, Mommy M and Grandma your southern hospitality!
New
Little Miss R…she was so tiny and perfect! She either slept or just looked at me sweetly the whole time I was with her. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I heard a peep out of her at all!
2 months
This little girl was such a sweetie for me! She gave me lots of eye contact and didn’t fuss one bit through our entire session. Thanks Baby K!
Baby J
I photographed this little peanut back when he was a newborn (the first picture is one of from his newborn session). I swear, it seems like just yesterday! He’s six months old now, and just as cute as can be. He’s also at that lovely *sitting but not crawling* age that I LOVE to photograph. Happy half-birthday Baby J!
Mother’s Day Special!
Mother’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year! It’s the day when I get pampered–or at least I’m supposed to be!
It’s also just around the corner. This year in honor of Mother’s Day, I’m running a special promotion for brand-new mommies. All newborn sessions conducted within the month of May will receive 50% off the session fee. Babies must be 2 weeks or younger to qualify. Please book early, because space is limited (”booking” a newborn session consists of an initial consult with me, and the payment of your session fee. The actual date of our session is determined after the baby arrives).
Ordinary Miracle
I love photographing newborns. There are so many aspects of my job that I enjoy, but one of my favorite parts is documenting those first few days of a brand new life. So many new parents (moms especially!) are in a sleep-deprived haze, just going through the motions of feedings, changings, etc. It’s so hard to really appreciate how very special the first few weeks are. I know…I’ve been there 3 times over myself! I love knowing that someday, these moms will looks back on these images, and they will be able to re-live the smallness, the newness, and the wonder, all over again. Those small details that they didn’t really have the energy to appreciate will be there for them to enjoy at their leisure. I picture these moms sitting 5 years from now with their once-newborn child saying “look how tiny your feet were!” as they thumb through their photos. It just makes me smile! This little guy today was so adorable. He was quite the little pistol though, already showing his new parents that ‘minority rule’ is definitely the name-of-the-game in their household! Congrats to the K family, he’s absolutely perfect!
A brand new blog!
Hi everyone, and welcome to my new blog! It’s good to *see* you here :) I will leave the old one up for another week or so, but please bookmark this new one when you get a chance. I’m still figuring everything out and working out the kinks, so please bear with me until I get the hang of it. Since no post is complete without some pictures, here’s a few to start things off…just the usual suspects
